Arizona State at Oregon Betting Prediction, Pick & TV Info

When: Thursday, February 2, 2017, 11:00pm ET
Where: Matthew Knight Arena, Eugene, OR
Radio: Arizona State / Oregon
Live Stream: Fox Sports Go

Why should you bet on the Sun Devils?

Arizona State had not lost to Washington State at home since 2009, but the Cougars brought in a lineup with more size and controlled the paint, led by Josh Hawkinson, who went 10 for 16 and 9 for 9 from the free throw line. Despite a nice win over Washington on Thursday, Sunday’s loss was punctuated by cold shooting from the outset — they didn’t have a basket until after the four-minute mark — and struggles defending in the pant. Tra Holder put up 27 for the Sun Devils, and Torian Graham chipped in 19. Holder’s solid first half had the Sun Devils up at the half, but then Washington State forced the action inside, posting 54 points after halftime.

Why should you put your money on the Ducks?

My Angry Contender theory definitely comes into play for this game, as Oregon saw a lengthy winning streak come to a close against a Colorado team that played hungry defense all night long. This theory says that a team that undergoes an upset will then deliver a whipping to the next team they play, especially if that team is not also a contender. Arizona State certainly qualifies, as their two wins in their last seven Pac-12 games have them swirling down toward the drain at the bottom of the conference standings. The Ducks had never won in six trips to Boulder, but Payton Pritchard’s 19 points led an effort that had them optimistic from the start. However, lazy ball movement (taking 34 3’s out of 57 total shot attempts) and a lack of team energy doomed the Ducks — but it’s not likely that they will play passive ball twice in a row.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like what coach Bobby Hurley is doing with the Sun Devil program, but they don’t have what it takes to beat a top-15 program on the road yet. I predict a final score of Oregon 80, Arizona State 69.
