The #14 Arizona Wildcats ride a 10-game winning streak into USC as they continue their Pac-12 schedule on Thursday night. The Wildcats (16-2, 5-0 Pac-12) have not lost since a 69-62 home setback against then-#8 Gonzaga. They knocked off Arizona State at home on Saturday night, 91-75. The Trojans (16-3, 3-3 Pac-12) have fallen out of the national rankings after conference losses at Oregon and Utah, and at home against Cal. They knocked off Colorado on the road, 71-68, on Sunday to get back on a winning streak. After you read about this game, click to see our NCAAB odds and picks for the week ahead.

Why should you bet on the Wildcats?

The Arizona Wildcats have a pair of bedeviling 7-footers who represent all sorts of matchup problems for the opposition. Dusan Ristic can dominate on the inside, as he showed when he ran off 9 points early against Arizona State, and Lauri Markkanen can drop behind the arc and nail shots from downtown. Markkanen dropped 30 on Arizona State in the Wildcats’ 91-75 win, and Ristic chipped in 16. Arizona ran out to a 12-0 lead early on and never looked back, going into the locker room with a 45-25 lead. The Wildcats dominated the boards, 38-22, and posted 19 second chance points from 12 offensive boards. Even a 50-point second half from Arizona State could not put a real dent in the deficit. A similar start by Arizona against USC could lead to another long night for the Trojans.

Why should you put your money on the Trojans?

USC’s fortunes will rise and fall with the interior play of their big man, Chimezie Metu. He posted a career best 24 points against Colorado, including the game-winning hook shot with 29 ticks left on the clock. His hook shots, jumpers and thunderous dunks kept Colorado off balance for most of the night. The Buffaloes ran out to an early lead, with the Trojans down by 11 at the 10-minute mark of the first half, but they roared back to close the deficit to one point at halftime, and they notched their eighth win this season in games where they faced deficits of at least nine points. The 22-point shellacking that USC took from Utah on Thursday was what knocked them out of the top 25, but if USC wants to defend their home floor against Arizona, they will have to start with more energy instead of falling behind in double figures so early.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

USC has some talent on the inside, but Arizona has the height to neutralize USC — and the talent outside to outscore them. I predict a final score of Arizona 82, USC 77.
