Why should you bet on the Wizards?

The Wizards are a bit of an oddity in the Eastern Conference standings. They have delivered some sound beatings to teams above them in the standings, but then they have lost some inexplicable games to some teams in the nether regions. Against the Trail Blazers, the Wizards got off to a fantastic start, leading by as many as 13 points in the third quarter, but the Trail Blazers stormed back to take the lead at the end of that period. The Jazz don’t have as dynamic an offense as the Trail Blazers, so with the same effort, the Wizards should be able to win.

Why should you put your money on Utah?

The Jazz are a tough team at home. Visiting teams do have to battle the altitude in Salt Lake City, but then the Jazz also have a way of grinding wins out by slowing down the pace and playing tough defense. Their loss to Golden State didn’t necessarily show that, but they did harass Stephen Curry enough to limit him to a dozen points. Unfortunately, the Warriors have so many weapons that this did not help much. Against the Wizards, that stout defense should have a more positive outcome.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Jazz to defend their home floor and smother the Wizards’ offense — even with the return of Bradley Beal to the Washington lineup. I’m picking the Jazz to win, 101-97.
