Utah at LA Clippers Game 3 NBA Playoffs Betting Pick & Lines

Posted by Peter Boysen on April 24, 2017 in

The Los Angeles Clippers host the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night in a Western Conference quarterfinal series that has become a best-of- three, as the Jazz knotted up the series at two games apiece on Sunday night, winning their first home postseason contest since 2010 behind a huge night from Joe Johnson. With the series tied, let’s see who has the betting edge in the NBA lines.

Utah at LA Clippers Game 3 NBA Playoffs Betting Pick & Lines

Radio: Utah / Los Angeles

NBA Odds: Los Angeles Clippers at -1

Why should you bet on the Jazz?

Joe Johnson has taken over this series, winning Games 1 and 4 for the Jazz by putting the team on his shoulders. He put up 28 points in Game 4, including 11 in a row for the Jazz as Utah went from seven points down with 7:37 remaining to take a one-point lead with 3:55 on the clock. After that, the Jazz kept the pressure up, going on a 15-7 run to finish out the game. Gordon Hayward got off to a good start but had to leave with symptoms of food poisoning, but Joe Ingles and Rodney Hood hit some clutch shots late in the game. The Jazz had more room inside with the absence of Blake Griffin (toe) for the Clippers, and the way they finished this game showed that they had more desire at the end than Los Angeles.

Why should you put your money on the Clippers?

This was a night when the Clippers had things in hand until the midpoint of the fourth period. Despite the absence of Griffin, the Clippers had plenty of offense — Chris Paul put up 27 points, 12 assists and nine boards; Jamal Crawford added 25 points; DeAndre Jordan chipped in a dozen points and ten boards. Rudy Gobert did return from a knee injury for the Jazz, but Jordan still had a solid night inside. The problem was a cold shooting night (44%) particularly down the stretch, as the Clippers had multiple open looks but weren’t knocking things down. Back on their home floor, the Clippers should see more of those shots find the net.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

The fact that Gobert has returned for Utah, while Griffin has left for the playoffs with that toe injury, does not bode well for the Clippers. Assuming that Hayward recovers from that food poisoning in time, the Jazz have the Clippers on the ropes right now as far as personnel goes. I predict a 107-103 Jazz win on Tuesday night.
