Toronto at Cleveland NBA Pick & Betting Prediction

Posted by Peter Boysen on April 11, 2017 in

The Toronto Raptors (50-31) visit the Cleveland Cavaliers (51-30) in the last game of the NBA’s regular season for both teams — and this game has become more interesting in terms of seeding because of some recent results. Cleveland has dropped three in a row, including a 124-121 overtime loss in Miami on Monday night. Toronto has won three straight, including a 110-97 victory over New York on Sunday, so a Raptors win could send Cleveland down to the third seed in the East. Let’s see who’s the NBA betting  favorite for this match.

Why should you bet on the Raptors?

On Sunday, Toronto faced a Miami team that needs every win it can get to squeak into the postseason, and the Raptors built an 18-point second-quarter lead — a lead that would almost disappear completely, but 39 points from DeMar DeRozan helped Toronto hold on for the win. Kyle Lowry, in his second game back after recovery from wrist surgery, put up 12, and Cory Joseph added 14. The Raptors look to have their offensive rotation ready for the postseason, and they got defensive stops when they needed them against a Heat team that is playing for its postseason lives. But can they take down an angry Cavs team on their own home floor?

Why should you put your money on the Cavaliers?

This is a team that led Atlanta by 26 at the end of the third period on Sunday — and lost in overtime. This is a team that led Miami by 11 at the end of the third period on Monday — and lost in overtime. This is a team that lost to those same Atlanta Hawks last Friday — and the Hawks had zero of their starting five players in the lineup. The Cavaliers did rest LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson — but Deron Williams put up 35, Kevin Love had 25, Channing Frye scored 21, and Kyle Korver chipped in 18, but it was that defense that fell apart once again. If you like Cleveland, then you see them putting things together to send a message to a rival contender, like they did in Boston two weekends ago.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the momentum the Raptors are building right now, but I also see this as a potential message game for the Cavaliers at home. I predict a final score of Cleveland 111, Toronto 103.
