Bet on the OKC Thunder vs Golden State Warriors Game

Posted by Aaron . on February 5, 2016 in

This Saturday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder head to California to take on the Golden State Warriors in one of the most anticipated matchups in the West this season. Tipoff is at 9:00pm Eastern time. The Warriors are coming off a 134-121 win in Washington on Wednesday night, and the Thunder knocked off the Orlando Magic at home Wednesday night, 117-114. The Thunder (38-13) got off to a relatively slow start but have been winning games in bunches lately; the Warriors (45-4) are still winning games at an historic clip, on pace to break the all-time record for wins in a regular season (Chicago, 72). Let’s take a closer look at this matchup, and don’t forget to check our NBA lines to get in on all the action.

Why should you take the Warriors?

As amazing as Stephen Curry has been, he is playing even better as the season rolls along. In the Warriors’ win over Washington on Wednesday, he drilled 11 threes, becoming the league’s first player to make 11 or more threes in a game more than one time. He put up 25 in the first QUARTER, the seventh time he has put up 20+ points in a quarter this season. Before the Washington game, Curry had scored 50 total points in the last three games, but that “slump” appears to be over, as he dropped those 51 in one game. This is not a team that is taking anything for granted yet.

Why should you bet on the Thunder?

You might think that a three-point win over the Orlando Magic at home — in which the Thunder were bailed out by a last-second three by Kevin Durant for the win — would show a lack of focus on Oklahoma City’s part. However, it was just last weekend that the Warriors needed a last-second three to knock off the woeful Philadelphia 76ers. The Thunder are in a streak of winning 12 of their last 13, so they’re every bit as hot as the Warriors are right now. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook give the Thunder a solid one-two punch that — when they are both on and the Thunder are remembering to play defense — makes this one of the best teams in the West. They are primed for the Saturday night showdown and should use this opportunity to make a statement the night before Super Bowl 50.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Thunder will bring everything they have, but there’s no reason to pick the Warriors to lose their first home game of the season. Golden State has been making meals out of their close rivals lately. I think the Thunder will hang closer than the Spurs or Cavs did, but I still see Golden State rolling, 128-121.
