San Antonio at Houston NBA Playoffs Betting Pick & Odds Game 3

What a difference a game makes! The Houston Rockets absolutely thrashed the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal series, only to see the Spurs reverse matters in Game 2, using a 33-13 fourth period to deliver a similar whipping to their in-state rivals on Wednesday night and bring the series level. Now, the series shifts to Houston for Game 3 on Friday night. Who will have the betting edge for this matchup? Let’s take a closer look at the game preview and latest NBA odds.

San Antonio at Houston NBA Playoffs Betting Pick & Odds Game 3

When: Friday, May 5, 2017, 9:30pm ET
Where: Toyota Center, Houston
TV: ESPN
Radio: San Antonio / Houston
Stream Option: NBA.tv
NBA Odds: Rockets at -4½

Why should you bet on the Spurs?

Kawhi Leonard found his scoring touch again, putting up 34 points, eight assists and seven boards to lead San Antonio to their big win. Tony Parker did go down with a left leg injury with 8:43 remaining in the fourth period and remains questionable for Game 3. Pau Gasol started Game 2, instead of David Lee, so that the Spurs would have another outside shooting option, and that paid dividends as the Spurs shot 62% from the floor in that opening quarter. LaMarcus Aldridge responded to his poor Game 1 performance by putting up 15 points in Game 2. If the Spurs can contest more Houston shots and limit offensive rebounds by the Rockets, like they did especially in the fourth quarter, they can take back home court advantage in Game 3.

Why should you put your money on the Rockets?

Despite the fact that James Harden went just 3 for 17 from the floor and just put up 13 points, and despite the fact that Houston went just 11 for 34 from downtown, the Rockets were still down just five going into the fourth period, when frustration multiplied and caused Houston’s offense and defense to implode. Playing at home will give them an infusion of motivation and confidence, and the fact that Parker is unlikely to play means that the Spurs’ offense will have to play without one of its key contributors. Harden is averaging 31.0 points, 8.2 assists and 5.5 boards per game in these playoffs, so it’s almost a mathematical certainty that he and the Houston offense will be back on blast.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I see Houston putting their offense back on display on Game 3, as Harden’s shooting will return at home. I predict a 110-101 Houston win.
