Betting on the Houston Rockets vs Philadelphia 76ers NBA Match Up

Why should you put your money on the 76ers?

You have to give Philadelphia credit — they are still putting in maximum effort on the vast majority of nights. It’s just that they don’t have the talent that they need to be a contending NBA team right now. Remember, this is a team that was tied late with Golden State until the Warriors drained a three at the buzzer to win. Against the Heat down in Miami on Sunday, the Sixers were up six in the fourth period until the Heat came back to win, led by Hassan Whiteside’s dominant play inside, scoring 14 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and blocking seven shots. The Rockets don’t have that same salty defense, so while they might win track meets of games (like the Raptor game) they have a difficult time getting stops — and the Sixers could make them pay for that.

Why should you bet on Houston?

The Rockets are on the edge of the playoff picture, which means that every game counts. They are in the eighth position in the West, so when they came into Toronto on Sunday night, they realized that they would need to start winning — and their offense was on fire. James Harden dropped 40 points on the Raptors and dished out 14 assists. Corey Brewer scored 23 points off the bench, and Dwight Howard added 21 points and 11 boards, but he fouled out in the fourth period. The difference was that the Rockets got stops when they needed them. When the Rockets play defense, there are few teams in the NBA that can beat them, and they should run right over the Sixers. The problem is that they often are not committed to defense — and they suffer as a result. Against Philadelphia, though, they should be able to win anyway.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Rockets to go into Philly and get a win — but I don’t foresee a rout. I’m picking Houston to win, 109-101.
