Why should you bet on the Pelicans?
Frankly, I wouldn’t bet on the Pelicans in this game unless you got a spread of at least eight points — or maybe ten. Without Anthony Davis in the game, the Pelicans are not a competitive team against the NBA’s contenders. They did keep within eight of the Pacers, but that was helped by the fact that Indiana lost Paul George with a leg bruise in the third period. The Pelicans only dressed eight players, and while Alexis Ajinca posted 22 points and Tim Frazier dropped 18 on the Pacers (and New Orleans crept within four in the third period), they didn’t have enough down the stretch — and they won’t have enough to beat the Raptors either.
Why should you put your money on Toronto?
It is worth pointing out that the Raptors rested point guard Kyle Lowry in the game against Boston because of a sore right elbow. The Celtics have a swarming defense that kept the Raptors from getting into any sort of rhythm, despite DeMar DeRozan’s heroic 21 points. The Pelicans don’t have anything close to that sort of defensive style, so the Raptors should be able to have their way, even after playing a track-meet style team in Houston the night before.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I am picking Toronto to dominate New Orleans in this game, winning 118-99.
