NBA Playoff Preview: Toronto at Miami, Game 6

Posted by Aaron . on May 12, 2016 in

On Friday night, the Toronto Raptors have a chance to end their Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Miami Heat, as Game 6 is set for American Airlines Arena. The Raptors won Game 5 in Toronto on Wednesday, 99-91 behind DeMar DeRozan’s playoff career best 34 points and Kyle Lowry’s 25. This was a major turnaround from the pair’s combined 6 for 28 shooting in Game 4, which Toronto lost, 94-87, in overtime. Find the latest NBA online betting spread here.

Why should you bet on Toronto?

Despite the fact that Lowry and DeRozan shot so poorly in Game 4, the Raptors sent the game to overtime. With their offensive weapons firing, the Raptors jumped out to a 10-point lead after the first quarter and never broke a sweat the rest of the way, going up by as much as 20 before halftime and entering the fourth quarter up by 13. The Heat did mount a rally in the fourth, drawing within a point, but the Raptors were able to hold them off, with DeRozan nailing all four free throws he was awarded in the last 21 seconds. If he and Lowry can post another strong performance on the road, this series should be over.

Why should you put your money on the Heat?

The Heat were able to battle back to within 88-87 with just under two minutes to go on a night when Lowry and DeRozan were playing fairly well. Dwyane Wade put up 20 points, and Josh Richardson and Goran Dragic each chipped in 13, so there was plenty of balance. The Heat are struggling inside without Hassan Whiteside (knee), but with Toronto losing Jonas Valanciunas, there is plenty of room inside for the Heat to make some plays.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Toronto to impose their tough defense once again on the Heat and finish this series out. I’m predicting a 98-91 Raptors win.
