Magic vs Raptors 2019 NBA Playoffs Odds & Game 5 Prediction

Posted by Derrick Harper on April 23, 2019 in

Healthy and happy, Kawhi Leonard has the Toronto Raptors one win away from the second round. The Toronto Raptors look to clinch the Eastern Conference first round over the Orlando Magic in game five. The Raptors won the previous matchup 107-85. Kawhi Leonard scored 34 points to help lead Toronto to the win and Aaron Gordon scored 25 points in the loss for Orlando.

Danny Green leads the Raptors with 2.5 made 3-pointers and averages 10.3 points while shooting 45.5 percent from beyond the arc. Leonard has averaged 22.4 points and collected 5.8 rebounds while shooting 45.6 percent over the last 10 games for Toronto. Pascal Siakam and Norman Powell each scored 16 for the Raptors, who can advance with a home win in Game 5 on Tuesday. Toronto has now won three consecutive postseason games, only the third time that’s happened in franchise history.

Let’s take a look at the latest NBA Odds while making some predictions.

Magic vs Raptors 2019 NBA Playoffs Odds & Game 5 Prediction

Orlando Running Through Big Man in Magic vs Raptors

Nikola Vucevic is averaging 20.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the Magic. Terrence Ross has averaged 18.5 points and added 3.3 rebounds while shooting 42.6 percent over the last 10 games for Orlando.

The Magic are 30-22 against Eastern Conference opponents. Orlando is 5-6 in one-possession games. Orlando, which fell behind 11-0 in Game 2 and 10-0 in Game 3, started Game 4 on a 7-0 run. The Magic started 6 for 6 from the field, and then missed 26 of their next 38 shots which surely did not help their cause to secure a much-needed victory.

Orlando has dropped three straight (all to the Raptors, obviously), the team’s longest slide since losing four in a row from Jan. 23-29. The Magic have also been held under 100 points in three straight games for the first time since Jan. 6-9.

Now, the Magic’s season is squarely on the brink. There have been 11 teams to successfully rally from a 3-1 series deficit in a best-of-seven NBA series, and of those, only three pulled it off by winning a Game 7 on the road.

Raptors Love Life at Home

The Raptors are 32-9 on their home court. Toronto averages 14 turnovers per game and is 33-11 when they win the turnover battle.

Toronto is 28-2 this season (and 16-0 on the road) when leading by at least 10 points at the half. … Leonard’s teams are 60-31 when he plays in the postseason. Among players in this year’s playoffs with at least 60 postseason wins, only Draymond Green, Shaun Livingston, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry — all Golden State Warriors — have a better winning percentage.

Magic vs Raptors Final Prediction

So it’s not impossible — just highly improbable. Of course, my money’s on the hometown Raptors to shut it down and send the Magic back to Orlando, but the Magic squad was very surprising this season.

If healthy, they can pack a punch worthy of a flier in next year’s playoffs. They have talent, they are just quite young and need more time playing together, but they will be dangerous.
