KC Royals at LA Angels MLB Odds and Betting Preview

Posted by Aaron . on April 25, 2016 in

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Angels host the Kansas City Royals in the second game of the series between these two rivals. The first game will be held this Monday, April 25th at the Angel Stadium. For the Angels (8-11), who currently sit in fourth place in the American League West, the game opens a chance to bounce from the 9-4 loss suffered on Monday against the Seattle Mariners.  On the other hand, the current MLB champs, the KC Royals (12-6), will enter the game fresh from a 6-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles that put the team in second place in the American League Central. The MLB odds for this game won’t be released until the first game of the series is over, although, the early Money Line puts the Royals as slight favorites to win the game straight up.

When: Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 10:05pm Eastern time
Where: Angel Stadium, Anaheim, CA
TV: FSW, FSKC
Radio: ESPN Los Angeles
Live Stream: MLB.tv
Opening Money Line: KC -113
Pitching Matchup: Edinson Volquez (3-0, 1.46 ERA) (KC) vs Jered Weaver (2-0, 3.12 ERA) (LAA)

Why should you bet on Kansas City?

This is going to be a pitcher’s duel, for sure, but Edinson Volquez is having the stronger season so far. He shut down Detroit last Thursday, posting seven shutout innings, including five strikeouts. Eric Hosmer is on fire with his bat, having reached base in 26 straight games (tops in the American League), and Alex Gordon hit another home run in Sunday’s win over the Orioles. The Royals are getting a lot more consistency from their bats than the Angels have been, and that has happened both at home and away.

Why should you put your money on the Angels?

Albert Pujols seems to be feeling his bat waking up. His home run Sunday traveled 435 feet — and it got him in a tie with Reggie Jackson for 13th on the home run list for his career. Mike Trout’s bat has been sharp all year long, and Geovany Soto appears to be finding some pop in his bat, with a big double on Sunday. Their starter will be Jered Weaver, who held Chicago to a run on three hits and two walks in seven strong innings his last time out. His fastball is back to normal strength, getting up into the mid-80s.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Kansas City Royals to overpower the Angels behind Volquez’s powerful arm. Although, I also think that we will witness a close game, so I’m predicting a 4-3 Kansas City victory.
