On Friday night, the Indiana Pacers will be in Toronto to take on the Raptors in NBA betting action. The Pacers (42-36) are in second place in the Central Division and just blasted the Cleveland Cavaliers, 123-109, on Wednesday night. The Raptors (52-25) are in first place in the Atlantic Division and beat Charlotte at home, 96-90, on Tuesday. They take on the Hawks in Atlanta on Thursday night before heading back home to face Indiana.

Why should you bet on the the Raptors?

Stingy defense is a hallmark of Eastern Conference play and has been for decades now. Perhaps the team that best upholds that tradition right now is the Toronto Raptors. They put the clamps on the Hornets the other night, holding a team that felt pretty good about their playoff chances to just 90 points while running their own offense the way they wanted to. Toronto is just fine not reaching 100 points night in and night out, so long as the opposition scores fewer points. That slower, grinding pace is different from what most of the league runs right now, which is one reason why Toronto is so tough — and doesn’t seem to have the same fatigue issues that some of the up-tempo teams are facing right now.

Why should you put your money on Indiana?

Before you go put your $250 down on the Pacers after their apparent rout of the Cavaliers, it’s important to note that LeBron James did not play in this game. In yet another rest game, the rest of the Cavaliers were not able to pick up the win. They do have two other All-Stars on their roster, but this clearly not the same squad when LeBron is on the bench in street clothes. With that said, this is still a quality win. Paul George poured in 29 points, C.J. Miles chipped in 21, and the Pacers nailed 16 shots from behind the arc, and their defense played well all night long. They’ll face a Toronto team that had to play a tough Atlanta squad the night before on the road and may show some fatigue.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I’m a big believer in Toronto, especially at home. Look at the game notes from the Atlanta game on Thursday before you place a bet (you never know when an injury might strike). As it stands now, though, I’m predicting a 99-93 Raptor win.
