The Indiana Pacers (29-26) head to Ohio to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (37-16) in a battle of Eastern Conference foes on Wednesday night. Cleveland has won five out of six games, including a 125-109 win over Denver on Saturday, and they face the Timberwolves up in Minneapolis on Tuesday night before returning home to host the Pacers. Indiana has dropped four in a row, including a 110-106 home loss to the Spurs on Monday. Once you’ve finished reading our prediction for this game, look at all of our NBA lines for this week’s games.

Why should you bet on the Pacers?

The Pacers have played dominant quarters at different points in their losing streak but have struggled to put together complete games. They put up 31 first-quarter points on San Antonio on Monday night, but then only mustered 18 in the second period. Given that the Spurs were on the downward slope of a road back-to- back, the Pacers had an opportunity, but they blew a 27-point night from Paul George and a 22-point night from Myles Turner. They got a steal with 29 seconds left, down just four points, but they turned the ball over and had to foul. Over the last 5:17 of the game, they missed five free throws. These are all signs of a team that doesn’t have the confidence to finish games late right now. If you like the Pacers, then you see them taking advantage of a Cleveland team finishing a back-to- back with diminished energy, something they couldn’t do at home against the Spurs.

Why should you put your money on the Cavaliers?

If you’re a Cleveland fan, you’re probably worried about Kevin Love’s knee surgery, which will keep him on the sidelines for the next six weeks, if not longer. It’s fortunate that Derrick Williams has come on strong during his initial 10-day contract to help come off the bench. In their win over Denver, Cleveland looked tentative early on, and the Nuggets took advantage, posting 33 points in the opening period. However, Cleveland came out after halftime and went on an 18-0 run. Will they have the energy to impose their will like that on the second night of a back-to- back that starts with the frenetic Timberwolves? Given that the Pacers have been crumbling late, taking the Cavaliers to finish with a better push, especially at home, seems like smart money.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

There’s a lot to like about the Pacers, but they’re just not finishing games right now. I like Cleveland to take advantage of this and take the home win, 108-100.
