How To Bet On The Houston at Golden State NBA Spread

On Saturday afternoon, the Golden State Warriors welcome the Houston Rockets to town for the opener of their Western Conference quarterfinal series. The Warriors won the season series between the two teams, 3-0, and the Warriors hold the #1 seed in the West, having won a record 73 games this season. The Rockets come in with the #8 seed and face a monumental task before them. Only three teams have ever knocked off a #1 seed in the playoffs, and the Warriors are coming in off the best regular season in league history. Find out the updated NBA online betting lines here.

Why should you bet on the Warriors?

This is an odd game betting-wise, and this whole series might be the same way. I don’t see books opening a straight up bet on this game given the vast difference in quality between the teams, and the lines are likely to be in the double figures. So why would you take that sort of line? Well, it’s important to remember that Golden State can put up points at video game speed. In the regular season finale against Memphis, the Warriors were up 70-50 — at halftime. They then cruised to a 125-104 victory. I think that all four games in this series could go this way, simply because the Rockets are likely to try to keep up with Golden State and let the Warriors set the tone — and the Rockets don’t defend well enough to get stops when they need them.

Why should you put your money on Houston?

Stranger things have happened, of course. It was less than two weeks ago that Boston and Minnesota won consecutive games at Golden State. It looks like that served as a bit of a wake-up call, as the Warriors then ran off five straight wins, including the first victory by a road opponent in San Antonio this season. However, James Harden is a dynamic scoring machine, and he has weapons around him like Jason Terry who can get hot and score, and Dwight Howard might be the best matchup that the Rockets have in this game. So it’s entirely possible that the Rockets could heat up and overwhelm a Golden State team that could be taking them for granted.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I don’t see Golden State losing focus for this game. I like them to lure the Rockets into a track meet and then sprint away with the win. I’m predicting a 122-108 Warriors win.
