The Golden State Warriors (61-14) host the Houston Rockets (51-23) in a Western Conference showdown on Friday night. The Warriors roll in on a nine-game winning streak, including a win in Houston and then a comeback from a 22-point deficit in San Antonio to shock the Spurs on Wednesday night. Houston had won four in a row before losing to Golden State, and they face the Trail Blazers in Portland on Thursday night before heading to Golden State. Here’s a closer look at the game preview and NBA lines.

Why should you bet on the Rockets?

The issue with James Harden’s left wrist could continue to plague the team the rest of the way. Harden did put up a triple-double on Tuesday night, but that 113-106 loss to the Warriors saw him missing some key shots down the way, clearly in pain. Those two layups that he missed in the fourth quarter would have kept the Rockets within a possession. However, the Rockets did fight back from a 22-point deficit in the first half to keep things interesting. If you like the Rockets to win (or even cover) you see them doing a better job handling the Warriors defensively from the get-go — a night after facing the athletic Trail Blazers on the road.

Why should you put your money on the Warriors?

A night after going up 22 on Houston early, the Warriors found themselves down 22 in the first quarter against San Antonio — but they stormed back for two big wins in the Lone Star State in two nights. Stephen Curry put up 29 in the win, and Klay Thompson added 23 in the rally. The Warriors needed the win to get its lead in the West up to 3 ½ games on the Spurs. The Warriors have now won nine in a row, and they will face a Houston team that’s coming in on the second night of a back-to- back and whose scoring leader refuses to rest at all for his wrist.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I”m a big believer in James Harden’s MVP candidacy, but I don’t see him leading Houston past Golden State on the road with his shooting hand at much less than 100%. I predict a final score of Golden State 116, Houston 109.
