On Thursday, the New Orleans Pelicans welcome the Denver Nuggets to the Crescent City for NBA action. The Pelicans (27-46) are in fifth place in the Southwest Division and knocked off the New York Knicks on Monday night, 99-91. They take on the Spurs on Wednesday in San Antonio before heading home to meet the Nuggets on Thursday. The Nuggets (31-44) are in fourth place in the Northwest Division and lost at home to Dallas on Monday night, 97-88. They take on the Grizzlies in Memphis on Wednesday before heading south to face the Pelicans. Find out the latest pro hoops betting lines here.

Why should you bet on the Pelicans?

Jrue Holiday had missed two games with a toe injury before coming back for the Pelicans’ win over the Knicks. Holiday gave the Pelicans a big spark, pouring in 10 points just in the fourth period and pushing New Orleans to an eight-point victory. Ryan Anderson (groin) and Norris Cole (back) continued to stay on the shelf, and the Pelicans responded with their 36th different starting lineup of the year so far. I don’t think the Pelicans will win in San Antonio, but I do think they will come home with plenty of fire to take on the Nuggets.

Why should you put your money on Denver?

Against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, Denver committed 21 turnovers, which led to a whole slough of transition opportunities for the visitors, while they were only able to snatch three turnovers back from Dallas. The Nuggets have not been the most consistent team in the NBA this season, but 21 turnovers is an unusually high number for this team. They should be able to manage the ball more effectively, and while I’m picking them to lose on Wednesday in Memphis, they should have a better shot against a Pelicans team without Anthony Davis, leaving them in control of the boards.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Nuggets to go into New Orleans and use their advantage inside to knock off the Pelicans. I’m picking Denver to win, 102-96.
