Why should you bet on Cleveland?
The Cavaliers appear to have all of the momentum in this series as it moves to Detroit. The Cavaliers jacked up 38 shots from behind the arc and drained 20 of them — seven of them from J.R. Smith. The key quarter was the third, as the Cavs outscored the Pistons 27-15, making six of their threes in that period. However, despite that 17-point margin of victory, the Pistons are making the Cavaliers work every time up and down the floor. That should keep the Cavaliers focused rather than taking the Pistons for granted on the road.
Why should you put your money on the Pistons?
Andre Drummond was a bright spot for the Pistons in Game 2, as he scored 20. If he had done better from the free throw line (where he went 4 for 16), the game could have been a lot closer. The Pistons did a better job of shutting down Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, but it was Smith’s eruption that helped to keep the game out of reach. Also, the Pistons went into the locker room at halftime up by five, so if they can put in a full game at that level, they can win one — or both — of these games at home.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I look for the Pistons to ratchet up the intensity in Game 3 and lock down on defense more effectively. I’m predicting a 102-99 Pistons win.
