The Cleveland Cavaliers (42-20) take on the Detroit Pistons (31-32) up in Motor City on Thursday night. The Cavaliers have dropped three of four, including a home-and- home sweep at the hands of the Miami Heat, who beat Cleveland 106-98 on Monday. The Pistons have won two in a row, including a 30-point rout of Philadelphia on the road and a 109-95 pasting of Chicago at home on Monday. Detroit heads to Indiana to face the Pacers on Wednesday night before returning home to play Cleveland on Thursday. Don’t forget to check out all of our NBA odds for the rest of the week.

Why should you bet on the Cavaliers?

Andrew Bogut made his debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, but he had only been in the game for 58 seconds before he fractured his tibia and went down. Kyrie Irving did score 32 points, and LeBron James put up 30 points and 17 rebounds, but this was another case of too little, too late for Cleveland, who roared back from a 20-point deficit to a 103-98 margin in the last minute, but LeBron missed a long three. Cleveland continues to sputter in terms of consistency, as far as getting defensive stops and offensive rhythm for a full 48 minutes, and teams like the Heat are taking advantage. The Cavs have the talent to run any opponent out of the gym, but as long as J.R. Smith is still on the bench and there is sniping in the locker room, the team will continue to play inconsistent ball.

Why should you put your money on the Pistons?

Point guard Reggie Jackson is starting to fulfill the promise that he has all season — but knee problems kept him from being able to carry out. Against the Bulls, he put up 26 points — 24 in the second half, when he went 10 for 10 from the floor. The Pistons only put up 14 points in the first period but roared back with a 37-point second period, and they started getting stops on the Bulls. If Jackson can come out with similar energy against the Cavaliers, and the Pistons can frustrate the Cavalier offense like the Heat were able to, Detroit can win this game.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

Cleveland is in a bit of a mini-slump right now, while the Pistons are charging up the standings. I like Detroit to take advantage of a distracted Cavs team and pull out a 108-104 upset.
