Chicago at Boston Game #2 NBA Playoffs Lines & Betting Preview

The Boston Celtics hold the top seed in the Eastern Conference, but you wouldn’t have known it after Game 1 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the eighth-seeded Chicago Bulls, who pulled off the 106-102 upset. Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas was playing a day after learning of his sister’s death in a traffic accident, but the Bulls took the momentum to open the series. Will that momentum continue in the NBA lines for the Bulls on Tuesday night?

Why should you bet on the Bulls?

Here’s an ugly secret about your top-seeded Boston Celtics — they just don’t rebound. Chicago does, which is one reason why the Bulls won the battle of the boards, 53-36. That sort of deficit will make for a short series for the Celtics. It won’t matter if Thomas scores 30+ points a game for the Celtics, because the Bulls feasted on second chance points all night, particularly in the second and third periods. Jimmy Butler put up 30 points for the Bulls, making himself a real problem that Boston has to solve. Even Rajon Rondo, who got effectively sent home the last time he was in a playoff series (with Dallas), got into the act with a solid game. Can they catch lightning in a bottle again in Game 2?

Why should you put your money on the Celtics?

Seeing your team leader sobbing on the bench before the game has to eat away at your mental preparation for the tilt, and that was what the Celtics had before them, as Isaiah Thomas was crying in the minutes leading up to Game1. He did lead the way with 33 points, and Al Horford had a big night as well, putting up 19 points, eight assists and seven boards. However, Boston could not get stops when they needed them, and (as was mentioned above), they did not box out. If they want to tie the series up at a game apiece, they have to commit to the boards and to making life tougher for Butler.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I love the energy that Chicago’s young bench brings to the game, and Jimmy Butler is a name we will hear in the Association for the next decade. However, I like Boston to come out for Game 2 with more composure and take a 104-98 win.
