Celtics vs Jazz 2020 NBA Game Preview & Betting Odds

The Utah Jazz will host the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night for what will be their first meeting against each other this season. They’ll play two games total this year with the next installment coming in just one week from now. Let’s see how the NBA odds will be for the Celtics vs Jazz.

Celtics vs Jazz 2020 NBA Game Preview & Betting Odds

The Celtics and Jazz have been two of the better teams this season, though they’ve each had some dry spells. They are very similar statistically, but Boston has a better defense and they score 2.2 more points per game than the Jazz.

Boston is nursing an injury to Kemba Walker, though. He has missed 11 games this season and will likely miss his 12th game on Wednesday when they travel to Utah to complete a back-to-back. Meanwhile, the Jazz have lost three straight headed into this one.

Celtics Entering Second Half of Back-to-Back

The Boston Celtics aren’t going to get a lot of rest between their Tuesday night matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers and Wednesday night’s matchup with the Utah Jazz. This back-to-back will be much more difficult without Kemba, but Boston still has plenty of firepower.

Boston has won 9 of their past 11 games, not counting their game against Portland on Tuesday. They have an unfavorable schedule over the next few weeks, so it’ll be interesting to see how well they manage injuries and rest.

At 39-17 on the year, the Celtics find themselves 3.5 games ahead of the Miami Heat for the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference. With that being said, 12 of those losses have come on the road and that’s been their weak spot this season.

Utah Jazz Have Lost Three Straight Games

The Utah Jazz were one of the hottest teams in the NBA at one point, but they’ve also been a very streaky team. Things started to look up for them as they walked into the All-Star break with a 4-game winning streak. They’ve come out of the All-Star break on a 3-game losing streak.

That 4-game win streak came against Portland, Miami, Dallas, and Houston. Since then, they’ve lost to the Spurs, Rockets, and Suns. There’s no telling they’ve been struggling from the floor, losing by 10 points to the Spurs and Rockets, and 20 points to the Suns.

The Jazz are desperate for a win and will have to take advantage of the Kemba-less Celtics. Don’t forget, the Jazz are getting a day of rest on Tuesday while the Celtics open up a back-to-back. If Utah’s going to beat the Celtics, it’s going to come on Wednesday — not when they travel to Boston in a week.

It’ll be interesting to see how the sportsbooks view this game. Boston has been the better team, but no Kemba makes a huge difference. Not to mention the fact that Utah is home and Boston will be rather tired. I wouldn’t be surprised either way they end up going, but I would probably give Utah the 5-point advantage due to the circumstances.

The third-best team in the East will face off against the fifth-best team in the West. When you look at these teams side by side on paper, you can see a lot of similarities. If Boston had Kemba, I would take them in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately, they won’t have Kemba and will have to do their work on the road. Utah is 20-8 at home, while Boston is 16-12 on the road. This is a big reason I feel more comfortable with Utah in this one. Plus, Utah won’t have any lingering injuries unless something happens on their off day Tuesday.

I’m going with the Utah Jazz in this one.  MyBookie Free Pick: Utah Jazz 105-100
