On Thursday, the Brooklyn Nets head to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers in NBA betting action. The Cavaliers (52-22) are in first place in the Central Division but just fell at home to the Houston Rockets, 106-100. The Nets (21-53) are in fourth place in the Atlantic Division and just took a 139-105 drubbing from the Orlando Magic on Tuesday.

Why should you bet on the Nets?

The Nets had been playing some solid ball, but then they got thumped in Miami and then got destroyed in Orlando. They are having a hard time playing basic defense, whether it’s guarding perimeter shooters or controlling the paint on the inside. They beat Cleveland at home three days ago, which means that the Cavs should be focused on some sort of payback. I wouldn’t take Brooklyn in this game unless you could get a double-digit line.

Why should you put your money on Cleveland?

This is a rare example of the Double Angry Revenge Theory. The Nets humiliated Cleveland in Brooklyn last week, and then the Cavs blew a 20-point third-quarter lead against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. It’s true that the Cavs were resting LeBron James against Houston, but the fact that the Rockets were able to do so much late against a Cleveland team that has plenty of talent in addition to LeBron is a little troubling. This team is still missing a little bit on the leadership end. However, with the Nets coming to town, this is a perfect opportunity for the Cavs to right some wrongs.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Cavs to take Brooklyn to the woodshed in this game. I’m picking Cleveland to roll, 114-97.
