Why should you bet on Boston (+6)?

Isaiah Thomas led all scorers with 27 points and dished out a team-best eight assists. Unfortunately, the team waited until the second half to take off offensively, and they never worked all that hard on the boards, as the Hawks outscored Boston in the paint, 52-36. Even with poor efforts from Jae Crowder, Amir Johnson and Jared sullinger inside, particularly in the first half, the Celtics almost took one on the road. If they can keep Paul Millsap and Al Horford honest in the middle, they will win Game 2. If Kelly Olynyk and Jonas Jerebko can do a little more off the bench during their time on the floor, it will be even easier for the C’s to even up the series before heading back to Beantown.

Why should you put your money on the Hawks (-6)?

The problem with the Hawks, from a strategic point of view, is that they don’t have just one player to shut down. They don’t have a marquee player like a LeBron or a Dirk, but that also means that you can’t key on one player and just hope the rest don’t beat you. So Paul Millsap, Kent Bazemore and Al Horford were able to combine for 61 points, 27 boards and 7 blocks, and each of them hit at least one shot from downtown. Kyle Korver did not play that well in the opener, going 0 for 7 from downtown. If he can start nailing his shots, things will become a lot tougher for Boston as they will have to extend their defense.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Celtics to take Game 2 in Atlanta. They left a lot of opportunities on the floor, and they still only lost by 1. I’m predicting a 104-101 Boston victory.
