Written by on May 10, 2021

With just one week left in the NBA regular season, teams are either playing for more ping pong balls or gearing up for the playoffs. This time of the year, we normally see some great individual performances, and this year is no different. With all of this year’s top MVP candidates playing for a berth in the playoffs, we’re seeing them carry their teams throughout the last few games. Let’s take a look at the updated odds to win the 2020-21 NBA Most Valuable Player award so you can bet against their NBA MVP odds.

NBA Updated 2021 MVP Odds

Nikola Jokic -1500

Denver’s second half surge has been made possible by the play of Jokic. When he is on the floor, the Nuggets score over 14 points more per 100 possessions. Jokic is nearly averaging a triple double on the season, as he’s putting up 26 points, 11 rebounds, and nearly nine assists per contest. He is one of the best passing big men of all time, and he’s one of the best passers in the league. Jokic has also been very durable, playing in all of Denver’s games this season. Right now, the award is his to lose.

Joel Embiid +900

Embiid missing 18 games have put him at a disadvantage. Even though he has helped lead the Philadelphia 76ers to the best record in the Eastern Conference, people just can’t seem to get over his durability issues. Embiid is the best offensive big man in the league. He can score from the inside or the outside. He has a wide range of moves that leaves the defense guessing. He gets to the free throw line as much as any big in the game. He’s also very good on the defensive end of the floor. Those missed games are going to continue to haunt him.

Stephen Curry +2000

In his last 19 games, Curry is averaging 37 points per game, with nearly seven three pointers per contest. Even though Curry has been playing at an unreal level, the Warriors are just 12-7 in those games. He doesn’t have a great supporting cast, and thus the Warriors haven’t been winning a lot of games. It looks like he’ll get them into the play-in round, but we’re not sure how far Golden State can go if they get out of the play-in round.

Giannis Antetokounmpo +2000

Giannis is having a typical Giannis year. That’s probably why he’s flying under the radar right now. Milwaukee is currently sitting in the third spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race. They started the season off slow but have come on strong later in the season. Until he figures out how to consistently hit perimeter jumpers, people will overlook the “Greek Freak”. He is one of the top offensive players in the league, and he also possesses superior defensive skills as his size and athleticism make him very versatile. If the Bucks had been winning more games this season, it’s very likely that Antetokounmpo would have been one of, if not the favorite, to win this year’s MVP award.
