NBA Betting: 2021 All Star Game Analysis

While many of the top NBA superstars have questioned why they’re going to be an All-Star game this season, the league has decided that the festivities will go on. This Sunday, the NBA All-Star game will be played at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. LeBron James and Kevin Durant will serve as the two team captains. They’ll draft their teams on Thursday night. Let’s take a closer look at both captains and who they may choose for their respective team so you can bet against their NFL Draft odds.

NBA All Star Game Preview

LeBron James has been a team captain all four times that this format has been used. LeBron’s team is 4-0 in those four games. He’ll be looking for a fifth win in a row, as he has the first pick in this year’s draft. LeBron’s squad will be coached by Utah Jazz head coach, Quin Snyder. This will be Snyder’s first appearance as a head coach in the All Star Game.

James will be opposed by Kevin Durant, who is a first time team captain. Durant, who was voted in as a starter, will not be playing in this year’s game due to injury. We’re not even sure if Durant will make an appearance in Atlanta this weekend. Since the Philadelphia 76ers have the best record in the Eastern Conference heading into the All Star Break, Doc Rivers will be the head coach for Team Durant. This will be the third time that Rivers has been the head coach of an All Star team.

The two players will have a nine player pool of starters to draft from. There would normally be eight players to choose from, but since Durant is injured and unable to play, Jayson Tatum was added to the starter pool. The starter pool includes: Giannis Atetokounmpo, Bradley Beal, Nikola Jokic, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, Joel Embiid, Luka Doncic, and Jayson Tatum.  As of now, many are predicting that LeBron James will select Giannis Antetokounmpo with his first selection.

As for the reserves, Kevin Durant will have the first pick. This pool of players will also be loaded with talent. Many of these players could have made an argument for being in the starter pool. The reserve pool includes: James Harden, Damian Lillard, Zach LaVine, Ben Simmons, Paul George, Zion Williamson, Chris Paul, Rudy Gobert, Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell, Julius Randle, Nikola Vucevic, and Domantas Sabonis.

This year’s All Star festivities will have a different feel than usual. With the COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc on the sports world, All-Star Weekend will be trimmed down to one day. Normally, the Skills Challenge, 3 Point Contest, and the Slam Dunk Contest are all held on Saturday, with the All Star Game being played on Sunday. This year, everything will be done on Sunday. The Skills Challenge and the 3 Point Contest will be held prior to the All Star Game, while the Slam Dunk Contest will be held during halftime of the All Star Game.

Even though many of these players were hesitant to have an All Star Game, it should be a very fun game to watch. We’re hoping for a close game at the end, so we can truly see these players go all out to win the game.
