Best Bet on and Bet Against NBA Teams For The Week

Some teams are more reliable than others in any sports league. In the NBA, there are some teams that you can rely on in certain situations, while there are others that you should avoid like the bubonic plague. Let’s take a look at some teams on both sides of the NBA online betting gambler’s ledger.

Best Bet on and Bet Against NBA Teams For The Week

Bet on the Clippers

I know what you’re saying — they don’t have Blake Griffin. I get it, and they need Griffin’s talent and power inside (not to mention that mid-range jumper) if they’re going to contend in the West playoffs. However, they have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA since Griffin hurt his leg — and he’ll be out at least another month with that hand he broke in a fight. They won 15 of the first 18 games they played without him, and they don’t show any signs of slowing down.

Bet against the Mavericks

Dirk in the Hall of Fame? Yes. Chandler Parsons, a great offensive talent? Yes. But the problems with this team are on the defensive side. They can’t keep anyone from scoring. They had Tyson Chandler at center, but he ended up going to Phoenix during the whole DeAndre Jordan adventure. Now they have Zaza Pachulia in the middle, and while he’s great at passing and scoring, defense is a foreign language to him. If the Mavs are playing anyone over .500, it’s a shaky proposition.

Bet on the Celtics

The Celtics are one of the hottest teams in the East right now, shooting up the conference standings in December and January. Their combination of blanketing defense and timely shooting has served them well as they have knocked off a number of vaunted opponents.

Bet against anyone under .500 playing in Utah or Denver…

…especially on the second night of a back-to-back. Those two arenas are at high altitude (Denver more so than Utah), and they are death traps for teams who aren’t playing that well and are tired from the night before. When Denver and Utah were a little better, this was a lock of a bet for just about any opponent, but if you have, say, Orlando rolling into Utah after playing Sacramento the night before on the road, take the home team.

Bet on the Warriors and the Spurs

These two teams simply show an inability to lose, night in and night out. One warning about the Spurs — check the roster report, particularly if they are on the second night of a back-to-back. Gregg Popovich has a tendency to rest some or all of his starters in these situations, particularly if he doesn’t think the game will have much of an impact on the standings, and the Spurs have fallen on some of those nights. You can certainly think about the “under” on those nights.
