The Washington Wizards welcome the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night for Game 2 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series. The Wizards won the opener on Sunday, 114-107 and look to take a 2-0 lead down to Atlanta after Wednesday night’s game. Let’s if the latest NBA spread will benefit the Hawks.

Why should you bet on the Hawks?

Atlanta should feel good about their dominance inside, as Dwight Howard pulled down 14 boards (although he only had seven points). Dennis Schroeder found plenty of room to score, putting up 25, and Paul Millsap added 19. The problem for the Hawks came when Wall just went off in the third period, and they did not have an answer. Even so, Schroeder had a solid shooting night, going 8 for 16 despite a foot sprain. The key for Atlanta will be finding a way to keep tabs on Wall for all four quarters and continuing to control the middle.

Why should you put your money on the Wizards?

John Wall finally looks ready to lead his team on a lengthy playoff run. In Game 1, he put up a career-best 32 points, including 15 in the team’s 38-point third period, and he also dished out 14 assists. Markieff Morris chipped in 21, and Bradley Beal had 22. The Hawks controlled the flow of much of the first half, but Morris put up eight straight points in the waning moments of the second period to bring the game closer, and then the Wizards exploded after halftime. A similar energy like that should serve them well in Game 2, although they need to do a better job in the paint than they did in the opener.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Wizards have established themselves as a real force in the East, while Atlanta continues their slide that started a couple of weeks before the end of the regular season. I like Washington to win, 105-101, and head down to Atlanta with a 2-0 series lead.
