2019 NBA Finals Odds & Betting Preview

In what seems like a yearly occurrence, the Golden State Warriors are back in the NBA Finals again. However, something has changed this year. Normally, this would have been a LeBron vs. the Warriors series. But with LeBron taking his talents out West, someone else had to take the throne in the East.

2019 NBA Finals Odds & Betting Preview

The Milwaukee Bucks were looking like the team to take the East, but the Toronto Raptors had different ideas.  Led by Kawhi Leonard, the Raptors overcame a 2-0 deficit, and came back to win four straight and defeat the Bucks in six games.

The Raptors will now face the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Golden State will be without Kevin Durant to start the series, but even without Durant, the Warriors are the heavy favorites to win the series.  Golden State opened up at -275 (bet $275 to win $100), while the Raptors were at +225 (bet $100 to win $225).

Since then, unsurprisingly the early money has went the way of the Golden State Warriors. Golden State is now at -300, while the Raptors odds are up to +240. The betting public has spoken, and all of the early money is on the Warriors defeating the Raptors and winning another NBA crown.

As for Game 1 of the NBA finals, despite being the heavy favorites to win the series, the Warriors have opened up as a one-point underdog. With the Raptors playing at a high level, the home court advantage at Scotia Bank Arena, and the thought of the Warriors being rusty after a long layoff, the Raptors have the chance to steal Game 1.

In taking a look at who Vegas thinks will win the series MVP, here are the latest odds.

Stephen Curry

  • 2019 NBA Finals MVP Odds: 5/8

Since Kevin Durant went down with injury, Curry has been carrying the Warriors. He has averaged over 30 points per game, and has been taking the clutch shots. With no Durant, look for Curry to be defended by Kawhi Leonard at times, and Kawhi will make things difficult for him.  (Bet $160 to win $100)

Kawhi Leonard

  • 2019 NBA Finals MVP Odds: 11/4

Kawhi carried the Raptors into the Finals. He has been playing at an elite level throughout the playoffs. He’ll be a matchup problem for the Warriors. (Bet $225 to win $100)

Draymond Green

  • 2019 NBA Finals MVP Odds: 10/1

Green has turned back into the All-Star that he was prior to Duran’t signing. He has been a double-double machine in the last few games.

Kevin Durant

  • 2019 NBA Finals MVP Odds: 15/1

If Durant returns during the series, will he look to blend in, or will he want to show everyone that he’s one of the top three players on the planet?

Klay Thompson

  • 2019 NBA Finals MVP Odds: 20/1

Steph and Klay have become the Splash Brothers once again. Klay has regained his knack of playing off of Curry and has hit some huge shots. Thompson will also be asked to defend Kawhi Leonard at times.

Pascal Siakam

  • 2019 NBA Finals MVP Odds: 50/1

While teams have been keying on Kawhi Leonard, Siakam has taken advantage of this. He’ll need to be ready to take on even more scoring duties in this series.

This should be an exciting series.  With the unknown status of Kevin Durant, along with the chance of DeMarcus Cousins coming back, there are a lot of what-ifs in this series.  We’re sure of one thing, that if Toronto wants to win this series, Kawhi Leonard will have to play at an all-time high level.  The superstars will shine in this series, and it should be fun to watch.
