The world’s most famous arena will play host to UFC’s latest event. UFC 244 will bring the MMA world to New York City and the Madison Square Garden for Saturday’s fight card. This will be the UFC’s 500th live event, and it will be a magical one. The main event of the evening will be a welterweight battle between two arrogant fighters, as Nate Diaz will take on Jorge Masvidal.

Let’s take a look at the latest UFC Odds while making some predictions.

UFC 244 Odds, Preview & Expert Picks

Diaz Big Name

The Diaz family has a long history with the UFC. Diaz hadn’t fought in the UFC since 2016 until he returned this past August. After winning his August fight, Diaz upped his career record to 20-11. He is currently the 6th ranked welterweight in the UFC.

The flamboyant Diaz is known for trash talk and his flashy style. As far as the fighting goes, Diaz is known for his endruance, and his ability to take his opponent to the mat and dominate him. Diaz will look to catch Masvidal with some quick blow to stun him, and then take him to the ground.  As for Masvidal, he’s best known for his flying knee to Ben Askren that knocked him out in five seconds. The UFC veteran has a lot more than that on his extensive resume.

The #3 ranked welterweight, Masvidal has a career record of 34-13. Masvidal is a very strong fighter, and will do all that he can to keep Diaz from taking him to the ground. Masvidal was a street fighter prior to joining the MMA world, so he can brawl with the best of them.  If Masvidal can hit one of his huge strikes, he will have the upper hand over Diaz. If Diaz can get Masvidal to the ground, the advantage will go to Diaz. Look for both of them to be on the defensive for much of the fight, and for Diaz to land lots of his quick jabs.

If both fighters fight a defensive fight, this one will go the distance. If that’s the case, the advantage will go to Diaz. We’re hoping for the fighters to turn this into a brawl, and see who can land the bigger strikes. In the co-main event of the evening, Kelvin Gastelum will take on Darren Till in a middleweight matchup. Gastelum is the fourth ranked middleweight, while Till is ranked 10th.Gastelum enters this bout with a career record of 15-4, while Till will enter the octagon with a record of 17-2.

Both fighters have struggled as of late, so both will be looking to get back on the winning track. This will be Till’s first appearance as a middleweight. His size and strength make this a good move for him. Till is not known as a defensive fighter, so he’ll need to be aware, as the middleweight class is full of strong, heavy hitters.

Tough Fighters

Speaking of heavy hitters, let’s talk about Gastelum. He will look to take this fight to Till, as he knows that Till struggles to defend himself. Gastelum is a hard hitter, so he’ll have to get close to Till and connect with some huge blows. Till has a good offensive game, but Gastelum knows that he struggles to defend, so he’ll take the fight to Till.
