Finally! After many attempts to hold this event the UFC will return on Saturday. UFC 249 will take place Saturday night in an empty VyStar Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

The main event of the night will be for the interim UFC Lightweight championship, as Tony Ferguson will clash with Justin Gaethje. The co-main event of the evening will feature Henry Cejudo taking on Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight title. Let’s take a look at the MMA Odds for this one while making some predictions.

MMA UFC 249 Cruz vs Cejudo

There is a lot of mystery surrounding this fight, as Dominick Cruz hasn’t fought in the octagon since December of 2016. Injuries have been the issue, as Cruz has had to postpone two scheduled fights. After a shoulder injury, and a broken arm, Cruz is finally ready to return to the octagon.

Known as “The Dominator”, Dominick Cruz enters the fight with a 22-2 record. His last fight didn’t go his way, as he lost to Cody Garbrandt at UFC 207. The loss ended a 13-fight winning streak for Cruz. Now that he’s finally healthy, he is ready for the challenge. Cruz will rely on his agility, stamina, and striking ability. He is known for his ability to last all five rounds, and he never seems to tire. The longer the fight goes, it seems to be an advantage for Cruz. 11 of his last 13 fights have gone the distance. Of all of his fights that have gone the distance, Cruz has won all but 1 of the 14.

Henry “The Messenger” Cejudo will enter the co-main event with a record of 15-2. He has his last five fights, with his latest win coming over Marlon Moraes in June. He won that bout via a third round knockout. Three of his last five victories have come via knockout, which is very ironic, as Cejudo is known more for his wrestling skills.

Cejudo has a very lengthy background in wrestling. Even though he has improved as a striker, he is a known grappler. He has several gold medals in freestyle wrestling, and he has won many matches with his grappling skills.

Over his career, Cejudo has evolved. He is a much more balanced fighter than in the past, and now doesn’t need to rely solely on his wrestling skills to win a fight. Cruz is known for his conditioning, but Cejudo is also in tremendous shape.

The Dominick Cruz-Henry Cejudo matchup of UFC 249 comes with a lot of intrigue. Not knowing how Dominick Cruz will look after a nearly four-year layoff is one of the huge question marks of this bout. Cruz will need his supreme conditioning, as he will not only look to avoid Cejudo’s takedowns, but now he has to be aware of Cejudo’s striking ability. If Cejudo can control this fight, it will be his for the taking. However, if Cruz can catch Cejudo in a compromising position, he has the ability to end the fight.

This should be a very fun fight to watch. With all of the questions surrounding this bout, the UFC fans will be excited to see how well Cruz looks, and if he can get back to his old ways.
