Bellator 249 Analysis & Betting Preview

  • Date: Thursday, Oct. 15
  • Time: 10 pm ET
  • Where: Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, Conn.

Main Event Breakdown

Cris Cyborg (22-2-0) is coming off her recent win against Julia Budd. Her fighting resume shows that she has 18 wins by knockout and four by decision.

When Cyborg made her debut in Bellator, she successfully claimed the featherweight world title in the process. She was able to land a fourth-round TKO to finish off Budd.

Cyborg does not have any submission victories on her resume. You can almost bet that this fight does not focus on that, as they most likely will keep standing.

Arlene Blencowe (13-7-0), before currently being on a three-fight winning streak, lost to Budd back in Bellator 189. Her fighting resume shows that she has seven wins by knockout, one by submission, and five by decision.

“Angerfist” is a name that fits her quite well. With four out of her last six fights coming as knockouts, it is no wonder that she is deserving of a title fight.

Blencowe is not heavy on combinations, but she can land strikes quickly and in a fury. She is an excellent counter striker that knows when to land her attempts.

Odds For This Event

The market is still adjusting to the odds for this event, but they have expressed that Cyborg will be a heavy favorite and that Blencowe is a huge underdog. As such, when they are released, they are subject to change.

Potential Winner

Cyborg might not be the fighter she has been in previous years, but try telling that to her face. She showed hardly any signs of slowing down against her fight against Julia Budd.

She is arguably one of the most aggressive and powerful strikers we have seen in this sport. There are not a lot of fighters that can take a beating like what she provides.

Blencowe, although it was a victory, did not perform well in her last fight. Still, she has earned a spot to contend for the title, and anything can happen. She left herself vulnerable in some situations, and if she does that again in this fight, it is most likely ending in the first round with a knockout.

Since both fighters typically like to stay standing, you can expect this fight to stay that way primarily. Although Cyborg does have excellent groundwork, she is best on her feet. She also has an excellent takedown defense, so Blencowe would need to work harder here.

Overall, Cyborg has the most appealing outlook for this fight. If she can land a good shot in the first round, this fight could end within minutes. Most likely, she will be able to handle this one within a round or two and deliver a great TKO victory.
