MMA Betting: Bellator 261 Analysis & Pick
Bellator is back in action at the home of Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut with great betting opportunities coming soon. Their next event occurs Friday, June 25th, for their Bellator 261 event.
The main event will feature Tim Johnson and Valentin Moldavsky as they fight for the interim heavyweight title. Ryan Bader, the current champion, is fighting in a Grand World Prix, thus forfeiting his belt. With all that in mind, let’s take a closer look at the main fight of the night so you can wager against their Bellator odds.
Bellator 261: Johnson vs. Moldavsky Betting Preview
Main Event Breakdown
Tim Johnson did not have the most attractive start in Bellator, especially with two consecutive first-round knockout losses. These were to the likes of Cheick Kongo and Vitaly Minakov.
However, Johnson bounced back with a 3-0 streak, which includes key wins over Kongo and Tyrell Fortune. Many began to believe in Johnson again and now he is in another great spot to succeed.
Moldavsky has not had much of a blip in his resume in Bellator, as he has been dominant. Some have argued that he has not faced the toughest competition yet, so Johnson is another key test for him.
Both fighters are known for the ground game, especially their wrestling techniques. You could almost flip a coin for deciding who will be attempting to fight on the ground first.
Moldavsky has shown to be relentless when it comes to takedowns. He literally does not stop until he gets the takedown, which could be concerning if Johnson holds his own on defense.
Johnson has looked a lot better in his last three battles on his feet, striking against tough opponents and not holding back. However, previous battles have exposed his chin and this could be another concern if Moldavsky is trigger happy with strikes.

Main Event Pick
Johnson could look to surprise many here again with his striking ability, which is something that many people are overlooking. These recent battles have displayed a different fighter and one that has improved a lot since his debut in Bellator.
Moldavsky has been great and arguably a tough fighter everywhere you look. His striking is not the best but he is still dangerous and respectable.
Also, if Moldavsky is looking for takedowns the entire fight then this could drain on him if he is unsuccessful. However, he has not had trouble in the past with takedowns, so this would be a huge first if it happens.
Johnson has shown to have the ability to strike with quality fighters and hold his own. The former UFC veteran has a lot left to prove and a win here would be massive.
Overall, Moldavsky might not have the best opening round but look for him to wear on Johnson as the fight goes on. This could potentially end sooner if Moldavsky is able to land solid strikes, but the long-distance fight is looking like a real thing.
Pick: Valentin Moldavsky wins by decision
