Bellator 205 Betting Preview & Expert Picks

A.J. McKee (11-0) vs John “Macapa” Teixeira (21-3)

After Pat Curran suffered an undisclosed injury, enter John “Macapa” Teixeira. He will face A.J. McKee, who has dominated in 11 straight victories to kick off his run to this fight. Teixeira enters this fight coming off of two straight losses, one against Curran whom he will replace in the fight.

The heavy favorite is McKee in this one and I can’t say I feel much different. His fights have been dominant, most recently a three round victory against UFC veteran, Justin Lawrence back in April at Bellator 197. He has the skills and the resume to be something special, so look for his undefeated record to stay spotless as he sets his sights on tougher fighters to come.

Rafael Lovato Jr. (8-0) vs John Salter (15-3)

This fight should have happened before, but due to injuries, it did not work out as planned. Now, these two fighters take to the ring and see what each can do. I’ll take undefeated Lovato Jr. in a very, very close fight. Salter has all the motivation he needs after seeing Lovato take on Gerald Harris just five months ago in his place.

Healthier now, Salter plans on making this as ugly a fight as it can be. Lovato is a surgeon out there, getting in and out while dealing the most damage with each blow possible. Fans can expect a very entertaining grappling matchup in this one.

Patricky Freire (19-8) vs. Roger Huerta (24-10-1, 1 NC)

Freire has won his past three fights and will take on a new challenger in Roger Huerta after his previous opponent, Goiti Yamauchi dropped out due to injury. Huerta is a veteran on the Bellator circuit who just signed on for six more fights with the organization.

Patricky Freire is one of the favorites to win at Bellator 205.

Despite Huerta’s second-round submission loss to Benson Henderson in his last fight, Huerta is looking to make a statement against a dangerous Patricky “Pitbull” Freire. Friere will be looking to repeat his last fight in which he defeated Derek Campos with a first-round TKO. My bet is on Freire to continue to improve and to impress.

Veta Arteaga (4-2) vs Denise Kielholtz (2-1)

The highlighted women’s fight pits Veta Arteaga against Denise “Miss Dynamite” Kielholtz. Both fighters are coming in off of fresh unanimous decisions and are difficult to lock up. Arteaga is a more seasoned fighter, but in general, both fighters are very similar.

Obviously wight is similar, fighting in the flyweight class, but both fighters are roughly the same age, Veta at 30, Denise at 29. One at 5’3, the other at 5’4, even their winning percentage is similar. I like the more veteran fighter in this one though so I’ll take Veta Arteaga. Look for a submission takedown to end this fight at Bellator 205.
