Why should you bet on Washington?

The Nationals are finally getting the dominant pitching that they thought would come with Stephen Strasburg’s dynamite arm. He has won four straight decisions to start the season for the first time in his career. He has a 40-to-8 strikeout-to-walk ratio, and his 2.25 ERA has him in Cy Young conversations. The only Royals starters who have faced Strasburg are Kendrys Morales (.333 in 3 AB) and Omar Infante (.000 in 6 AB), and pitchers generally have the advantage in their first matchup with a batter. Despite the fact that Washington’s offense has been in a bit of a slump lately, the pitching has been getting W’s.

Why should you put your money on the Royals?

Kris Medlen takes the mound for the Royals, and his pitching so far has been mixed. However, his last start was against the Seattle Mariners, and he only permitted one hit and one run in 5 innings. Unfortunately, he got no run support and the team ended up getting shut out 1-0. Titanic slugger Bryce Harper is only hitting .154 lifetime against Medlen (2 for 13), and Ryan Zimmerman is only hitting .214 (3 for 14). Despite the fact that the Royals have been struggling as of late, they have the talent in Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer and the rest of the lineup to heat up at any time. These are, of course, the defending World Series champions.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

It’s really hard to bet against Strasburg’s arm right now, and the Nationals are cruising early this season. I’m predicting a 5-1 Nationals win.
