The Washington Nationals won the 2019 World Series. Now, as 2020 rolls around, the Nationals are looking to make a repeat run despite losing their top offensive threat during the off-season. Washington still has the guns to get it done. Take a look at the Washington Nationals 2020 Season Analysis and MLB Odds.

Washington Nationals 2020 Season Analysis

Loss of Rendon Hurts

The loss of Anthony Rendon certainly hurts the Nationals 2020 lineup. Washington will hope for a big season from young star Juan Soto. Soto will hit fourth for the Nationals this season. Victor Robles and Adam Eaton look to be the guys that set the table for Soto and Trea Turner. The bat of Starlin Castro, along with the addition of Eric Thames look to round out the Nationals middle of the order. We also have questions on third baseman Carter Kieboom, and how he will far in 2020.

Nationals Remain with Top Rotation in National League

There is very little doubt that the Washngton Nationals have the best starting rotation in the National League. The Nationals inked Stephen Strasburg to a big deal, and have huge expectations for him. He will go along with fireballer Max Scherzer, and lefthander Patrick Corbin. That is an incredible top three in the rotation. The combination of Anibal Sanchez, Joe Ross and Austin Voth should round out the Nationals rotation.

Rendon Out; Castro and Thames In

Anthony Rendon was the top offensive name that was moved in the offseason. After his monster 2019 season, which led to a World Series title, he bolted and signed a massive contract with the Los Angeles Angels. That leaves a massive hole in the lineup for the Nationals.

But, Starlin Castro at second base, and Eric Thames at first base hope to combine to make up for the loss of the star third basemen. Many are projecting Castro to hit nearly .300 this season, and Thames pounding 25 homeruns over the boards. It will be interesting to see how the new additions do for the Nationals. The biggest plus for the Nationals offseason was the extension of Stephen Strasburg.

Washington Nationals Betting Odds

The New York Mets have taken over as the team to beat in the National League East. That’s a little surprising for a team that failed to make the postseason. Especially over the World Series Champions, and a red hot, young Atlanta team. The Nationals come into the season with a Vegas win total set at 89.5 wins.

Despite the win totals, many in Vegas still like the Nationals odds. While they are not as great of odds as the Los Angeles Dodgers to win the National League; Washington is still given pretty solid odds. The Washington Nationals are listed at +600 to win the National League.

Finally, the Washington Nationals World Series odds give the Nationals the fifth best chance to win it all. How amazing would the two seasons following the loss of Bryce Harper to Philadelphia be winning the World Series? That’s what the Nationals are looking for in 2020. Washington is listed at +1600 to win the 2020 World Series.
