Toronto at San Francisco MLB Free Picks

On Wednesday afternoon, the San Francisco Giants host the Toronto Blue Jays in the final game of their midweek series. Both of these teams sit at 17-17, but the Blue Jays are just third in the American League East, while the Giants are leading the National League West. The Blue Jays won the series opener on Monday night, 3-1. Find the latest MLB live odds here.

Why should you bet on Toronto?

The Blue Jays send their ace, Marcus Stroman, to the mound, and he has permitted only three earned runs in his last 15 innings, while fanning 17 batters. This is an interleague series, which means that most of the Giants have never seen Stroman. When a pitcher sees a team for the first time, he generally has the advantage because they have not seen how his pitches move. The Blue Jays also found their power stroke as Edwin Encarnacion belted a two-run shot in the eighth inning in the series opener on Monday night.

Why should you put your money on the Giants?

While Stroman is a quality pitcher, the Giants send their own crafty pitcher to the hill in Madison Bumgarner. In his last outing, he went 7 strong innings and struck out 10 — and said he could have done better. He has built a reputation as a gamer thanks to his outdueling Clayton Kershaw several times (and even homering off him in a couple of those games). Troy Tulowitzki has hit two home runs against Bumgarner from his time with the Rockies, but for the rest of the Blue Jays, Bumgarner will be a mostly new experience.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Giants to get to Stroman and ride Bumgarner’s pitching. I’m predicting a 5-3 San Francisco victory.
