Top MLB Series of the Week (July 4th-10th)

Written by on July 4, 2016

When looking ahead at Major League Baseball, we are to the final week of the first half of the season. The first half certainly has been eventful, and the league is certainly ready for the excitement that will come during the second half of the season. To finish the first half, let’s take a look at the Top Major League Baseball Series of the week in the sportsbook odds:

Taking a Closer Look at the Top MLB Series of the Week (July 4th-10th)

Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals

We have the second and third best teams in the National League Series getting together for a four game series at Busch Stadium. The Pittsburgh Pirates have been climbing their way back to .500 after a horrible month of June. The Cardinals are trying to track down the Chicago Cubs following the Cubs horrid stretch, where they were swept by the New York Mets. The Cardinals will send Carlos Martinez, Mike Leake, Jaime Garcia and Adam Wainwright to the mound in that order. For Pittsburgh, they will counter with Jon Niese, Jameson Tallion, Jeff Locke and youngster Chad Kuhl. That’s a good series, which has seen some great games the past couple seasons, and also a four game series in Major League Baseball.

Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox

Another fun series in Major League Baseball, the Texas Rangers are at the Boston Red Sox. The Texas Rangers are leading the American League West, while the Boston Red Sox are competing for a wildcard, and trailing the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East. The Rangers are going to send Nick Martinez, A.J. Griffin and Martin Perez to the mound. For Boston, Rick Porcello, David Price and Steven Wright will throw for the Red Sox. This should be a fun series, with both teams scoring a bunch of runs. These two teams are both a couple of the highest scoring teams in all of Major League Baseball. The Red Sox have a couple of the top batting averages in all of MLB with Ortiz and Bogaerts, while Texas has seen a monster season from Ian Desmond. This should be a fun series.

New York Yankees at Chicago White Sox

The New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox get together for a three game series in Chicago. The Yankees are still in fourth place in the American League East, and have dropped under .500 on the season. For the White Sox, they are fourth as well in the American League Central, but have a 41-40 record on the season. The White Sox will use James Shields up against C.C. Sabathia on Monday. Then on Tuesday, talented lefty Carlos Rodon will throw for the White Sox against the Yankees Masahiro Tanaka. Finally, on Wednesday – Michael Pineda will battle against Miguel Gonzalez, and then on Wednesday. The Yankees have to be pretty pleased about not seeing either Chris Sale of Jose Quintana for the Chicago White Sox in this series.
