Top MLB Betting Picks of the Week – August 13th Edition

Kansas City Royals over Toronto Blue Jays (8/13)

Call me crazy, but I like Kansas City in this one against the Blue Jays. The Royals have been terrible, but that losing skid has to come to an end somewhere, right? Why not here at home against a rookie pitcher’s debut? They’ve lost nine of their last ten ballgames, but in come the Blue Jays with Sean Reid-Foley to make his first MLB start. They have had one day off since July 27th and may be too tired to take care of the lowly Royals.

Arizona Diamondbacks over Texas Rangers (8/13)

Simply put, I like Zack Greinke and the Diamondback lineup better than I like Bartolo Colon and the Rangers. Greinke’s squad is making a push for the division crown and needs every win they can to capture the West from the Dodgers. Look for this team to play with a playoff fire and get the win.

Philadelphia Phillies over Boston Red Sox (8/14)

A surprise bet against the red sox here, but Rick Porcello has been struggling with three of his last five starts resulting in four or more earned runs given up. His last outing, he allowed seven. The Phillies will be seeking blood as they send Nick Pivetta to the mound on Tuesday.

Cleveland Indians over Cincinnati Reds (8/14)

Similar to Monday’s diamondback pick, this one is a simple one. Corey Kluber and the Cleveland Indians are just a better ball club than Sal Romano and the Cincinnati Reds. Look for the ace of the staff to take over for the tribe in this one to prove that his last start was not a lingering issue. Kluber left his last start with illness but will be backfiring on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh Pirates over Minnesota Twins (8/15)

Chris Archer once again takes the field against the Twins. In his career at Target Field, Archer has posted a 1.48 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP. Look for dominance from what should be the best pitcher on the field on Wednesday. He hasn’t had the start to his career that I’m sure he was wanting, but Archer is a top-level pitcher and what place better to jumpstart his winning ways better than Target Field?

Washington Nationals over St. Louis Cardinals (8/16)

Tanner Roark takes on the Redbirds and Jack Flaherty. Roark has been considered a middling pitcher for most of his career, but he seems to have turned himself into quite the reliable staffer as of late.

The Nationals should be one of your MLB Betting picks of the week.

His last four starts have him posting a combined 1.21 ERA with just two walks and 27 strikeouts. Look for him to fan a few more against the Cardinals

Chicago Cubs over Pittsburgh Pirates (8/16)

Jon Lester goes to the mound against the Pirates on Thursday, which typically means dominance, but not as of late. Lester has really struggled since the all-star break, posting an ERA over 10 with opponents batting over .380 against him. Look for the ace to turn it around against a division rival here. If not, it’ll be a long playoff push for Chicago. Lester is the heart of that rotation.
