Seattle at Minnesota Thursday MLB Odds Prediction & Preview

Posted by Ted Merrick on June 14, 2017 in

The Seattle Mariners (32-34) wrap up their four-game midweek series in Minnesota against the Twins (33-28) on Thursday afternoon at Target Field. The teams have split the first two games, with the Mariners winning in a rout on Monday, 14-3, and the Twins coming back to deliver a team-record 28 hits in a 20-7 beating on Tuesday. The Twins have been one of the surprises this season, as they lead the AL Central Division, but they’ve had more runs against them then runs score, standing at -26. The Mariners are not having a good time in the AL West, currently in 4th place of that division. The MLB odds are favoring Minnesota to win this final series game Seattle, as they have the home field advantage.

Seattle at Minnesota Thursday MLB Odds Prediction & Preview

When: Thursday, June 15, 2017, 1:10pm ET
Where: Target Field, Minneapolis
TV: RTNW, FSN, MLB Network
Radio: Seattle / Minnesota
Live Stream: MLB.tv
MLB Odds: TBA
Pitching Matchup: Ariel Miranda (6-2, 3.67 ERA) (SEA) vs Jose Berrios (5-1, 2.84 ERA) (MIN)

Why should you bet on the Mariners?

Ariel Miranda has been even more effective than his season stats over the last six starts, posting a 3-0 record and a 2.17 ERA. The M’s also enjoy the return of right fielder Mitch Haniger to the batting order. He had gone onto the DL in April (oblique injury) tied with Mike Trout for the American League lead in WAR (wins above replacement). On Monday, he showed that he had absolutely no rust, going four for six and coming around to score four times in that 14-3 Seattle win. If the Mariners’ bats can give Miranda a little insurance, they have an excellent chance to win.

The Minnesota Twins are favorites in the MLB odds to beat the Mariners.

Why should you put your money on the Twins?

Jose Berrios has posted some nice numbers in the starting rotation this season, but his last outing (5 ⅓ IP, 2 ER, 8 K) featured some control issues. The only Mariner who has ever faced Berrios is Jarrod Dyson (2 for 6 lifetime, 2 RBI), and that lack of familiarity should benefit Berrios. Minnesota can also count on hot bats like Eddie Rosario, who had three home runs in that 20-7 Minnesota win on Tuesday night. But which offense will show up bigger on Thursday afternoon, after the teams traded routs?

MLB Odds Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Miranda’s recent pitching pedigree better than that of Berrios, so I’m going with the Mariners here, predicting a 4-1 Seattle victory to close out the series.
