San Francisco Giants vs Milwaukee Brewers MLB Odds Analysis

Where: Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI
Radio: WTMJ 620 AM Milwaukee

Pitching Matchup: Jeff Samardzija (0-0) (SF) vs Taylor Jungman (0-0) (MIL)

Why should you bet on the Brewers?

It appears as though there is some sort of bug traveling around the Giants clubhouse. Madison Bumgarner, the Opening Day starter, had chills and fever on Sunday night, the night before the game, and had been loading up on medicine as his start approached. Even so, he limited the Brewers to three runs, but the Brewer bats will not stay quiet for long. As solid as Jeff Samardzija has been in the past, he was not particularly dominant down the stretch, and his appearance with the Giants will be the first under the stress of that mammoth new contract.

Why should you put your money on San Francisco?

San Francisco’s offense let them down a little bit down the stretch last season. That does not seem like it will be a problem after Opening Day. They posted 12 runs against the Milwaukee Brewers, and Denard Span hit a home run and drove five runs in during his debut as a Giant. This big win came on a day when ace Madison Bumgarner clearly did not have his stuff going. The Giant eighth inning saw a total of three home runs (Joe Panik and Buster Posey went deep after Span’s blast). Taylor Jungman does not have anything like the pedigree that Jeff Samardzija has on the mound, so the Brewers could have a hard time scoring at all on Wednesday.

I like the Brewers to get to Samardzija and post a win in the matinee of this series. I’m predicting a 6-2 win.
