Why should you bet on San Francisco?
I tend to favor teams who are on streaks, but when I look at the Diamondbacks’ recent wins, they have been against the lowly Braves (who, if they were in one of the European soccer leagues, would be headed for relegation) and the almost as lowly Rockies. So do I think that the Giants can stifle the Diamondbacks with the arm of Cueto? He has been difficult to touch so far this season, and the upgrade in starting pitching could place a cloud over the Arizona offense.
Why should you put your money on the Diamondbacks?
Arizona has a primo arm of their own headed to the mound on Thursday, as the crown jewel of their free-agent class, Zack Greinke, takes the hill. His ERA is a little unsightly so far this year, but he did pitch well last time out against Milwaukee, limiting the Brew Crew to just a pair of runs in six innings. His was the win that snapped the long losing streak. The Giants’ biggest bats, Buster Posey and Hunter Pence, are only hitting .276 (0 HR, 2 RBI in 29 AB) and .143 (2 HR, 3 RBI in 21 AB) respectively for their careers.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
Johnny Cueto has had the better season thus far, and the Diamondbacks have gotten to spend the last week feasting on what is basically Triple-A level competition at this point in the season. I’m predicting a 5-0 Giants win.
