San Diego vs Los Angeles MLB Betting Guide

On Saturday night, the San Diego Padres will come up the coast to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in National League West action. The Padres (7-15) are in fifth place in the division and have lost five straight, including a 13-9 decision to the Giants on Wednesday. The Dodgers (12-11) are still clinging to first place in the division, 4 ½ games ahead of the Padres, but they just got swept at home by the Miami Marlins. Find the updated MLB betting lines here.

Why should you bet on San Diego?

Despite the slump the Padres have been in, Wil Myers has a 12-game hitting streak and belted a three-run homer in Wednesday’s game. Matt Kemp also has a hot bat, as he drove in a pair of home runs and homered for the Padres. Adam Rosales had a home run, Jemile Weeks drove in a run with a triple, and Brett Wallace plated a run with a double. So the offense has some potential if they can take advantage of Stripling being on the mound.

Why should you put your money on the Dodgers?

Ross Stripling has been streaky so far. He had a terrific start to open the year but has posted a 4.20 ERA in the three starts since, lasting five innings per game. He did get a higher pitch count Sunday, staying in for 107 tosses. None of the Padres have ever faced Stripling, which is usually an advantage for the pitcher. First baseman Adrian Gonzalez, one of the biggest bats in the Dodger lineup, came up with two men on base each of the first three times he came to the plate but did not produce, striking out twice and then grounding back to the pitcher. It’s unlikely that he will stay down long, though.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Dodgers’ offense to pick back up and for them to enjoy some home cooking against the Padres. I’m predicting a 4-1 L.A. win.
