Oakland vs Tampa Bay MLB Predictions

On Saturday night, the Tampa Bay Rays play the middle game of their weekend set with the Oakland A’s. The Rays (15-17) are now fourth in the American League after getting swept by the Mariners up in Seattle. The Athletics (14-21) are in third place in the American League West, getting stomped on Wednesday by the Red Sox, 13-3. Find the updated MLB online betting lines here.

Why should you bet on Oakland?

The Rays send young Matt Andriese to the hill, and while he did shut down the Angels through seven innings in a spot start, now that there is plenty of film on him, the A’s will be able to pick up on some tendencies. Also, the Rays’ starters and bullpen were atrocious in the team’s sweep up in Seattle. The Rays’ loss on Wednesday was a walkoff in the 11th inning, and those losses can linger in a team’s memory. Even with a day off on Thursday, the Rays still had the long trip back from Seattle, with three hours of time change, to get back home.

Why should you put your money on the Rays?

The A’s are in the middle of an awful slump. They have permitted 11 or more runs in four games in a row, the first time that has happened in the 116 years of the franchise’s history, through all their time in Kansas City and Philadelphia as well as Oakland. The A’s have dropped nine of their 10 games so far in May and have an unsightly 8.58 ERA over that time period. Kendall Graveman’s numbers don’t suggest that the A’s can expect much resistance to Tampa Bay on the mound.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Rays to feast on Kendall Graveman’s pitching and control a hibernating A’s offense. I’m predicting a 6-1 Tampa Bay win.
