The New York Mets (24-31) open a three-game midweek series in Texas against the Rangers (26-30) on Tuesday night. The Mets have dropped four of their last five, including an 11-1 loss against the Pirates on Sunday. NY Mets at Texas MLB Prediction & Betting Analysis for Tuesday

When: Tuesday, June 6, 2017, 8:05pm ET
Where: Globe Life Park, Arlington, TX
Radio: New York / Texas
Live Stream: MLB.tv
Pitching Matchup: Jacob deGrom (4-2, 3.97 ERA) (NY) vs Nick Martinez (1-3, 5.20 ERA) (TEX)

Why should you bet on the Mets?

Mets starter Jacob deGrom did have a rough outing in his last start, permitting seven runs in four innings against the Milwaukee Brewers. However, his numbers on the season has been solid, and for the most part he had a dominant May. He has never faced the Rangers, which should give him an advantage the first couple of times through the order. The Mets also get to face Rangers starting pitcher Nick Martinez, who does not do well after the first four innings. His issues this year have included leaving an average fastball out over the plate where hitters can crush it. The Met hitters should get plenty of chances to hit the ball hard.

Why should you put your money on the Rangers?

When deGrom is off, he’s really off, with control problems driving his pitch counts up and putting runners on the bases. The Rangers have seen excellent hitting from shortstop Elvis Andrus (3-4, 3 RBI on Saturday night), and captain Adrian Beltre has hit well since returning from the disabled list. Joey Gallo continues to belt home runs in his first full season with the team. If Martinez can keep the inconsistent Met offense in check and can keep his fastball down, then the Rangers have a chance to beat another struggling team on Tuesday.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Rangers have plenty of offense to win this game, but their bullpen has been awful for the past two weeks, and it’s not like Martinez will go more than five or six innings. I predict a 7-5 win for the Mets.
