Why should you bet on New York?

Nova has pitched terrific ball in his two starts after coming back to the rotation, throwing 10 strong innings against Kansas City and the White Sox, with a 1.74 ERA. He has three career starts against the A’s, going 1-0 with a 4.24 ERA. The Yankees will also get some hittable pitches from the Athletics’ starter, Kendall Graveman, who has permitted four or more earned runs in each of his last four outings and has permitted a combined five home runs in his last two starts. Didi Gregorius and Brian McCann have both homered against Graveman.

Why should you put your money on the A’s?

The A’s have a real find in Khris Davis, who has found his power stroke. In Tuesday’s win over Texas, he hit three home runs, including a walk-off grand slam to seal the 8-5 win. Oakland is also showing some resiliency, as the Rangers had scored two runs in the top of the ninth on Tuesday to go up 5-4, but Oakland did not quit. If they can start piecing streaks together, they could catch up in an American League West in which all five of the teams have promise — and all five have some noticeable flaws.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Yankee offense is still hit-and-miss, but the A’s seem to be clicking at the plate. Oakland has some momentum going right now, and Nova is not a dominant pitcher. I’m predicting a 6-5 Oakland win.
