On Saturday night, the Colorado Rockies host the New York Mets in the middle game of their weekend series. The Mets (21-13) are in first place in the National League East but just lost, 5-0, to the Dodgers on Thursday night. The Rockies (16-18) are in third place in the National League West and just beat the Diamondbacks, 8-7, on Wednesday. Find out more about the updated MLB sportsbook odds here.

Why should you bet on New York?

Logan Verrett will have the spot start in Steven Matz (elbow)’s spot, but he is a spot starter that a lot of teams would love to have. He took Matt Harvey’s spot last August in a Coors Field start and hurled eight innings, permitting just one run. In six career starts in Denver, he has a combined 2.36 ERA. The Mets’ offense has gone on life support this week, but seeing Eddie Butler on the mound is a lot less intimidating than the likes of Clayton Kershaw.

Why should you put your money on the Rockies?

The Mets just split four to the Dodgers, and their position players have been shut out for two straight games. They did beat the Dodgers on Wednesday, 4-3, but that was only because pitcher Noah Syndergaard smacked two home runs to drive in all four of the Met runs. The Colorado offense has been rolling at home, as the Rockies put up 8 runs in their last win over the Diamondbacks. If the pitching can help the offense out for once, the Rockies could get a win here.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I think that Verrett will have more success on Saturday against the Colorado offense, and I’m predicting a 6-3 New York win.
