The Minnesota Twins (27-23) play the third game in their weekend series in Los Angeles against the Angels (28-29) on Saturday night. The Twins broke a four-game skid with a comeback 4-2 win over the Angels in the opener of that series on Thursday. The Angels had won three of their last five coming into that opener. Who will take Game 2 on Saturday? Let’s find out.

Minnesota at LA Angels MLB Betting Preview for Saturday

When: Saturday, June 3, 2017, 10:07pm ET
Where: Angel Stadium, Anaheim, CA
RadioMinnesota / Los Angeles
Live Stream: MLB.tv
Pitching Matchup: Ervin Santana (7-2, 1.75 ERA) (MIN) vs Matt Shoemaker (4-3, 4.26 ERA) (LA)

Why should you bet on the Twins?

Ervin Santana is the main reason why this Minnesota team is still over .500. He should be 8-2, but his last time out, despite his throwing seven innings and permitting just a single run against Houston, his team didn’t give him enough in the way of offensive support for him to get the win. He is holding batters to a .140 average this season. The Twins also benefit from the fact that the Angel lineup is missing its biggest basher in Mike Trout (thumb). Albert Pujols continues to chase that 600th home run, but pitchers don’t have as many reasons to give him hittable pitches as they did before Trout’s injury.

Why should you put your money on the Angels?

In the absence of Mike Trout, Angel fans are getting excited about the bat of Kole Calhoun. He homered twice in the Angels’ loss to Minnesota on Thursday — a pair of solo shots that turned out to be the only runs that L.A. would score in the game. He also plays exciting defense in the outfield, sacrificing his body to make those kind of catches that save games. On the mound, the Halos have Matt Shoemaker, who has a 1-1 career record in three starts against Minnesota. However, his ERA (4.61) against them is high, and in his last start, he permitted four runs in 4 innings against the struggling Miami Marlins. If the Angels are going to win this, they’re going to have to get to Santana.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

Los Angeles is playing some plucky ball after losing their star. However, I don’t see them doing much damage against Santana. I predict a 5-2 win for the Twins.
