Milwaukee at Chicago Saturday MLB Betting Prediction & Pick

Posted by Aaron . on May 19, 2017 in

The Milwaukee Brewers (24-18) visit the Chicago Cubs (21-19) this weekend, and they play the middle game of their series on Friday afternoon. The Brewers sit atop the National League Central, riding a three-game winning streak, most recently knocking off the San Diego Padres, 4-2, on Thursday. The Cubs have also won three in a row, having swept the Cincinnati Reds this week, including a 9-5 win on Thursday. So, it’s an interesting matchup we have for this weekend. Let’s take a closer look at the latest betting preview and MLB betting pick for the game.

Milwaukee at Chicago Saturday MLB Betting Prediction & Pick

When: Saturday, May 20, 2017, 2:20pm ET
Where: Wrigley Field, Chicago
Radio: Milwaukee / Chicago
Live Stream:
Pitching Matchup: Chase Anderson (2-0, 3.43 ERA) (MIL) vs Jake Arrieta (4-3, 5.44 ERA) (CHI)

Why should you bet on the Brewers?

Don’t look now, but the Brewers could be here to stay in the NL Central race. Chase Anderson has pitched well against Chicago historically (2-0, 2.66 ERA). His last time out, though, the Padres got to him for four runs in 5 innings. First baseman Eric Thames is expected to play without limitations in the weekend series; he only appeared in Thursday’s game against San Diego as a pinch-hitter after missing the first three contests thanks to strep throat. Eric Sogard went 4-for- 4 on Thursday and became just the fourth Brewer to put up more than one four-hit game in a series ever. With hot bats, the Brewers could keep the Cubs in their malaise that has them lingering right around .500 so far this year.

Why should you put your money on the Cubs?

Jake Arrieta has had a difficult May, permitting 12 earned runs in 15 innings over three starts. His last start featured a pair of fat pitches that led to a pair of two-run blasts by the St. Louis Cardinals, as the Cubs fell, 5-0. However, Arrieta still has the potential to dominate games, and the Cubs’ offense is showing some signs of waking up over the past week or so. Can Arrieta keep the ball down enough against a Brewers team that has been opportunistic all season?

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like what the Brewers have going on right now, and I don’t think that Jake Arrieta has solved his issues yet. I predict a 5-3 Milwaukee win.
