The San Francisco Giants (7-14) wrap up a home midweek series against the Los Angeles Dodgers (10-11) on Thursday afternoon. The teams have split the first two games, with each side winning in 2-1 fashion, and they play a third time on Wednesday night before the fourth matchup in a Thursday matinee. Here’s a look at the MLB betting prediction for the game .

Why should you bet on the Dodgers?

The Dodgers are scuffling a little to start the season, as either their starters or their hitters have let them down at just the wrong time in several of their losses, but they also ended a six-game losing streak in San Francisco on Tuesday, as Yasiel Puig had a clutch single and Adrian Gonzalez drove in the team’s other run on a groundout. Julio Urias has a plus fastball — but this is his first start of the season as the team is trying to minimize his inning total. He faced San Francisco twice last year, taking the loss in a start and permitting a run over two innings in relief. Given the poor performance of the Giant sluggers so far this year, Urias has a good chance to start 2017 with solid numbers.

Why should you put your money on the Giants?

Matt Moore has put up some ugly numbers so far this season, but he does have 17 strikeouts. Pitching in San Francisco, he has a 5-3 career record in eight starts, with a 3.38 ERA. He took a no-hitter 8 innings against the Dodgers last year, only to see Corey Seager get a hit off him. If Moore can get on track, the demoralizing loss of Madison Bumgarner to a dirt bike injury might carry less of a toll. Puig is the only member of the Dodger lineup who has ever taken Moore deep, and no Giant with more than three career at-bats against Moore has a career average over .286 against him.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

This matchup of National League West rivals always brings out the best in both teams. I like Moore to outduel Urias, though, and the Giants to win, 3-2.
