LA Angels at NY Mets MLB Betting Analysis & TV Info

The Los Angeles Angels (22-21) open a weekend series in New York against the struggling Mets (16-23) on Friday night. The Angels ride in on a four-game winning streak, including a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox (and a 12-8 win on Wednesday). The Mets have dropped seven straight games, including a pair of 5-4 losses in Arizona to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday and Wednesday. It hasn’t been the best season for either team, but it’s still an interesting MLB betting matchup.

Where: Citi Field, New York
Radio: Los Angeles / New York

Pitching Matchup: Ricky Nolasco (2-2, 4.34 ERA) (LA) vs Jacob deGrom (2-1, 4.07 ERA) (NY)

Why should you bet on the Angels?

Mike Trout is a huge reason for the Angels’ big winning streak, as he has hit five home runs in the last three games. Cameron Maybin has had a hot bat as well, picking up five hits on Tuesday night and then three more hits in Wednesday’s win over the White Sox. The Angels do send Ricky Nolasco to the hill — who has permitted two home runs per start in five of his last six appearances, but the red-hot Angel offense has been outscoring the opposition even on nights when the pitchers give up a lot as well.

Why should you put your money on the Mets?

It’s been almost 18 years since the Mets went 0-6 on a road trip — back in September of 1999, so they are definitely looking for a pick-me- up returning to their home field. As awesome as Jacob deGrom’s fastball has been, control has been a problem for him, as he is walking 3.7 batters per nine innings. That lack of control has pushed his pitch counts so high that he is not making it past the sixth inning in most of his starts. The Met bats haven’t been bad, but the unreliable starters and bullpen have contributed mightily to this losing streak. Can deGrom get back to form at home?

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Angels have caught fire right now, and the Mets seem to be heading in the opposite direction. The Mets will get fat pitches from Nolasco, but the Angels will have plenty of opportunities to rake as well. I predict an 8-6 win for Los Angeles.
